ALBUM OF THE WEEK
BEACH HOUSE [Mistletone / Inertia]
This weeks Album of the Week is the fourth from Beach House, titled Bloom. The Baltimore duo pick up where they left off with Teen Dream (2010), delivering more of their woozy dream pop. Bloom is more subtle and less grandiose than previous efforts, sounding like a band who have matured without straying from the niche they've expertly carved for themselves .
Atmospheric landscapes and melodic lullabies are wrapped up in a beguiling downbeat-pop format and offer evidence as to why Beach House have become such a popular band. From playing to a couple of hundred people at The Hopetoun Hotel on their first tour of Oz in 2008, to two sold out shows at Sydney Festival in 2011. Bloom by Beach House is our AOW on FBi.
