Untitled Document VOLUNTEERING @ FBi

What volunteer opportunities are available at FBi?

There are a large number of roles for volunteers to get involved at the station. This ranges from manning the front desk, working in the music library, working in communications, membership, sales and promotion, producing or presenting.

Most volunteers start out on our Frontline. Frontline duties include manning the front desk, greeting guests, answering phones, responding to emails, assisting with FBi admin and supporting the music library team. This allows you to demonstrate your commitment to the station and gain a better understanding of the structure and roles available within the organisation. If appropriate, after 3-6 months you may be provided with a chance to move into a new role. Volunteers are encouraged to be proactive in seeking new opportunities within the organisation.

Getting involved at the station will also expose you to communication with regards to broadcaster and producer training, production and other special project opportunities although previous FBi volunteer experience does not guarantee a place in such courses or projects.

If you have an idea for a new show on FBi, email
caroline@fbiradio.com for more information. You may be asked to apply for one of FBi’s regular training courses.

How do I get involved?

We're looking for volunteers that are able to commit to at least one half day a week for a minimum of 6 months. Ideally we are looking for volunteers who are interested in extending their involvement at the station beyond this. You’ll need to be a current FBi supporter.

If you are interested please apply via our Online Volunteer Application

What happens then?

Please be aware that there are far more applications received than actual volunteer positions available. As a result gaining a volunteer position at the station is highly competitive and we cannot always respond to all applications. If we have a position for you, we will contact you. If there are no position available at present, and we think you could be an asset to the station, we will email you to let you know that you’ve been placed on our waiting list and we’ll notify you of any upcoming volunteer or training opportunities.
