Thanks for your interest in volunteering at FBi.
We are not accepting new applications at this time as our volunteer-base is jam-packed and going strong.
For a list of volunteer or job opportunities at other community radio stations, check out the CBAA website. Otherwise, check back here in 2 to 3 months as new opportunities arise.
We welcome your application at that time.
If you have an idea for a new show on FBi, email caroline@fbiradio.com for more information. You may be asked to apply for one of FBi’s regular training courses.
What volunteer opportunities are available at FBi?
There are a large number of roles for volunteers to get
involved at the station. This ranges from manning the front desk, working
in the music library, working in communications, membership,
sales and promotion, producing or presenting.
Most volunteers start out supporting our Frontline team. Frontline duties include manning
the front desk, greeting guests, answering phones, responding to emails, assisting
with FBi admin and supporting the music library team. This allows you to demonstrate
your commitment to the station and gain a better understanding of the structure
and roles available within the organisation. If appropriate, after 3-6 months
you may be provided with a chance to move into a new role. Volunteers are encouraged
to be proactive in seeking new opportunities within the organisation.
Getting involved at the station will also expose you to communication with regards
to broadcaster and producer training, production and other special
project opportunities although previous FBi volunteer experience does not
guarantee a place in such courses or projects.
How do I get involved?
Our volunteering hours are the same as our office hours - from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am to 6pm, though volunteers are only asked to work half-day shifts. We're looking for volunteers that are able to commit to
at least one half day a week for a minimum of 6 months. As we receive many applications and want all volunteers to have a fair chance of involvement we can't say yes to everyone who applies, but we do endeavour to interview everyone. Finally, we do appreciate all volunteers being supporters of the station.
