FRIDAY JULY 23 @ OXFORD ART FACTORY

SALLY SELTMANN

Sally Seltmann is the award-winning songwriter and singer best known for her work as New Buffalo - responsible for the 'intoxicating' albums 'The Last Beautiful Day' and 'Somewhere, anywhere.' Her new album is 'Heart That's Pounding'. After the stripped-back elegance of her previous albums, Sally's new record is an album that resounds with confidence, megawatt melodies and energising joy. She'll be joined on stage by a full band to perform songs from Sally's acclaimed new album as well as reaching back into the New Buffalo catalogue. Guests include Jessica Venables (aka Jessica Says), Mark Monnone (The Lucksmiths), Tim Harvey (Hot Little Hands) and Sally's husband Darren Seltmann.

FRIDAY JULY 23 @ THE CIVIC HOTEL, CITY

SCUBA

Scuba is the production and DJ alias of Paul Rose, curator of Hotflush Recordings, one of the original dubstep labels. Last year, Hotflush was responsible for releasing Resident Advisor's Number 1 track of the year, 'Hyph Mngo' by Joy Orbison. In 2010, Scuba looks to reach the same lofty heights as Orbison with his own album 'Triangulation', spearheaded by the phenomenal 'You Got Me'. Sitting comfortably alongside producers like Martyn, Actress, Flying Lotus, Joker, James Blake, Kyle Hall, Floating Points and the rest of the future-beat alumni, Scuba’s sound straddles Dubstep, wonky beats and deep house and techno. Backed up by Mark Pritchard, Simon Caldwell and Jonny Faith & Monk Fly, this night is set to be a feast for the ears, as much for the bass-heads as it is for fans of pioneering electronica.

SATURDAY AUGUST 21 @ MANNING BAR, SYD UNI

PVT (formerly Pivot)

With a new album and a new name, albeit pronounced the same as the old one, PVT make their anticipated return to the airwaves and stages. Featured as Fbi's Album of the Week and released through Warp Records in July, 'Church With No Magic' took the band to a basement studio in London to record with one of Europe’s largest collections of vintage synthesizers – including the Yamaha CS80 famously used for the ‘Blade Runner’ soundtrack. Australian audiences will be the first to hear it live as PVT launch their international album here on home soil.

FIRST AID KIT

A night with two Swedish teenage sisters sounds like the premise of a bad porno (is there such thing as good porno?) but that's exactly what you're in for with First Aid Kit. The siblings, Johanna and Klara Sderberg, caught our eye and ears with their stunning 2009 cover of Fleet Foxes 'Tiger Mountain Peasant Song'. They backed it up this year with their gorgeous debut album 'The Big Black And The Blue' which features the singles ʻI Met Up With The Kingʼ and ʻHard Believerʼ. This is their first time down under, yes that's right you dirty schmuck, it's their virgin Australian tour. Time to get intimate with First Aid Kit.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 17 @ OXFORD ART FACTORY

SAGE FRANCIS

Nothing and no-one escapes the furious gaze and ferocious rhymes of Sage Francis. The reigning agent provocateur of hip hop is headed our way with material from his new album 'Li(f)e'. Never one to shy away from controversy, Francis pushed buttons and boundaries with his music both thematically and stylistically. This latest album features appearances from Death Cab for Cutie, Calexico and renowned French composer Yann Tierson. Joining him at the show will be his fellow Strange Famous Records label mate B. Dolan to play main support and also collaborate on a couple songs.
